Bethe Burns - Bethe went to the American Music and Drama Academy in NYC. She has done numerous shows and cabarets and is a member of the all girl acappella Doo Wop group Sweetheart. She also has the pleasure to join Vic entertaining at restaurants and parties. This is a return visit to Center Players, having performed in last summer’s Love: June, Spoon, Moon. Bethe would like to thank Vic for all his musical support and comic relief. She also thanks her husband and children for making dinner for themselves.
Yvette Cataneo - Yvette, a native of Champaign, Illinois, received her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Illinois Wesleyan University and her Master’s from the University of Illinois. Miss Cataneo’s stage roles include “Papagena” in The Magic Flute, “Yum-Yum” in the Mikado, “Adele” in Die Fledermaus, and “Sister Genevieve” in Suor Angelica. In addition to being an accomplished recital and oratorio artist, as well as generating acclaim for her operatic performances, Miss Cataneo is equally at home on the musical theatre stage, having performed in such musicals as The Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof, Annie and Girl Crazy.
Kelly Rice - Kelly will be entering her third year as a Theatre Studies major at Montclair State University this coming fall. Some of her favorite theatre credits include: various roles in The Vagina Monologues, “Catherine” in Pippin, “Cinderella” in Into the Woods. Kelly would like to thank “Uncle Vic”, the cast and crew for such a rewarding experience.
Brenda Schoffield - Brenda is thrilled to be a part of this Center Players production. Her favorite past roles include: “Golde” in Fiddler on the Roof, “Bloody Mary” in South Pacific, “Mother Abbess” in Sound of Music, and “Lady Thiang” in The King and I. Most recently she portrayed “Grandma Rosie” in The Wedding Singer in Deal, “Sister Berthe” in The Sound of Music and “Jacob’s Wife” in Joseph at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank. When Brenda is not on stage, she is actively selling Real Estate as a Broker Associate. Many thanks to the entire talented cast, Musical Director Vic Schioppo, and crew for this wonderful theatrical opportunity and experience. Love to my husband, Ted, for all his support with everything I have accomplished.
Janet Tartaglia - Janet has been a singer/actress for many years, appearing in NYC in numerous showcases, Caberet Theatre and Night Clubs. During that time she performed in regional theatre and summer stock in such musicals as Fantasticks, Bells are Ringing, Can Can, Boys from Syracuse, to name a few. Since moving to NJ, Janet has continued her singing but returned to acting in community theatre with performances in I Remember Mama, Noises Off, Streetcar Named Desire, Glass Menagerie, A Doll’s House and Twelfth Night. She is pleased to return to Center Players for her third production. She couldn’t pass up the opportunity to work with Vic and Bethe again, after Love: June, Spoon, Moon last year. Thank you to all the people behind the scenes. Your help makes it magical for us all.
Vic Schioppo (Musical Director) - In addition to working with his own musical group, “The Grants”, for over 35 years, as well as singing and performing locally, Vic has played in and/or conducted Community Theatre Orchestras for the past ten years, His credits include: Fiddler on the Roof, Carousel, Gypsy, The Music Man, Broadway Rhapsody, Oliver, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, Scrooge, Magical Moments of Broadway, The Wizard of Oz, Into the Woods, Kiss Me Kate, Cinderella, Bye Bye Birdie, Peter Pan, and Love: June, Spoon, Moon. Now, as a card carrying member of Center Players, Vic has, for openers, created a musical revue entitled The Queen B’s. Vic would like to extend his love and appreciation to the talented ladies who will grace the stage in this production. He also would like to thank Bernice and Bob for inviting him to join the Center Players, thus becoming a part of a wonderful group of dedicated professionals. Most of all, his love goes out to his son Brandon for reminding him of the joys of youth, and to his wife Sharon who always knows and never forgets “How to Keep the Music Playing”.
Bernice Garfield-Szita - (Dramatic Staging Director) - Bernice is delighted to be working with Vic and this amazingly talented vocal ensemble that makes Center Playhouse alive with beautiful music! Bernice is currently president of Center Players and chair of the Program Committee.? She has utilized her wide range of theater arts skills?including acting, directing, designing and community development to help Center Players become the award winning resident theater?company of Freehold. Some of her favorite shows she directed for Center Players?are Driving Miss Daisy, Lost in Yonkers, Real Women Have Curves, Steel Magnolias and The Immigrant. Bernice has been active in community?theater?for more than forty years and has had the pleasure of directing some great musicals including Fiddler On The Roof, My Fair Lady, South Pacific, and The King and I. Bernice uses her insight and skills?as a? Licensed Professional Counselor and?Psychodrama Trainer to bring out the depth of emotions in all her theater direction. She is very grateful to share her personal life stage with her husband Bob, who has always supported her and Center Players with his quiet strength and love of the arts and community.
