SYNOPSIS: "Real Women Have Curves " is a dramatic comedy that will keep you in stitches! It is set in a tiny dress factory in East Los Angeles and is a microcosm of the Latino immigrant experience. The play celebrates the power of real women and the incredible bond that happens when women work together.

Lindsay Wagner as "Ana"
Lindsay is thrilled to make her Center Players debut with such a fabulous cast of women. Lindsay graduated from NYU with a BFA in Cinema Studies and Creative Writing and has spent the past two and a half years performing stand up comedy in NYC and NJ.
In addition to performing, she is working on her fifth feature-length screenplay entitled The Watergun War (any producers in the audience?) She is also chairman of the Red Bank Film Festival.

Judy Spiegel as "Carmen"
Real Women Have Curves has been Judy’s mantra her entire life, making this one of the most meaningful roles she has ever performed. Judy wishes to thank Center Players for the opportunity to work with an incredible group of passionate “real” women, (cast & crew) who in developing these challenging characters and their issues, helped her to grow as both an actress and a person. Although this marks Judy’s debut with Center Players, she has been making people laugh, and sometimes cry - transforming audiences into believing her characters in community theaters throughout Monmouth, Middlesex and Mercer counties for 20 years. As always she wishes to thank her family for giving her the space and support to pursue her passion. “Querer es poder” - Where there’s a will there’s a way! |

Anna Oleinik as "Estela"
Anna is very excited to be involved in this wonderful play with such a talented cast and supportive production staff. Real Women Have Curves marks Anna's second performance with Center Players. You may have recently seen her in Jitters here at the Center Playhouse. Anna is a Rutgers University Douglass College 2002 graduate and currently works in the field of social services. She has participated in many productions with the Livingston Theater Company in Piscataway, Princeton Summer Theater in Princeton, Cabaret Theatre in New Brunswick and NENA Productions in Ocean Grove. Past theater credits include Joseph..., Nunsense, Godspell, Fiddler on the Roof, Theater A.D.D., MUSICAL! The Musical, Trip a Little Fish, R.A.W., The Vagina Monologues, Merrily We Roll Along, The Fabulous Fable Factory and The Laramie Project, as well as experience with stage crew, stage managing, costuming, choreography and lighting. Ranessa Porter as "Pancha"
Having survived a theater sabbatical, Ranessa is delighted to return to the stage in “Real Women Have Curves.” Doing something “productive” with her life drove Ranessa to completely abandon theater after high school. However, ten years of boredom and bitterness have compelled her to reclaim her passion. Along with attending Virginia’s Governor’s School for the Performing Arts, Ranessa’s acting credits include comedic appearances in the Odd Couple, Romeo and Juliet and a Midsummer Night’s Dream. Ranessa, also a feminist and fat activist, applauds the Center Players for selecting a show that celebrates women of all sizes. |

Virginia Mesones as "Rosali"
Virginia Mesonesis from Buenos Aires, Argentina where she has studied with renowned master Carlos Gandolfo and Patricia Palmer. Credits include Romeo & Juliet, In Shut Mouth, Chekhov's The Bear. Under sponsorship of the French Embassy she toured a production of Moliere’s The Imaginary Invalid to various colleges throughout Buenos Aires. Her first New York appearance was in Agamemnon 2.0 by Chuck Mee. Other off Broadway credits include; The Bomb and Ventoforza 5.She's always finding some way to get herself on stage. She thanks Center Players for this opportunity and she can also be seen this summer performing at The South Street Seaport in Manhattan. |

Bernice is delighted to have had the opportunity to direct the New Jersey Premier performance of Real Women Have Curves by Josefina Lopez. She thoroughly enjoyed working with the talented, spirited, and dedicated cast and crew that brings this beautifully written comedy-drama to life!
Finding material that is entertaining yet socially relevant has been a goal for Bernice in her over 40 years of theater involvement. This play exemplifies the material she enjoys working with as it follows the challenges of five Latina immigrant women who work together and find the courage to be themselves, to dream, and to take risks to discover the beauty and complexity of being real women.
Bernice wants to gratefully acknowledge the loving support of her husband Bob who has always encouraged her to shine her brightest and enjoy being a “real women”. |
